Hwaseong | Go to post

Few weeks back, my mum bought Korean grapes from NTUC Fairprice.

There are 3 parts.
1st, the dark purple skin of the grape - tough to eat compared to grapes from US.
2nd, just under the skin, the maroon colour flesh of the grape is sweet.
3rd, the inner flesh of the graph is sour.

When you pop a grape into your mouth, it burst, soft and watery.
Then you are able to feel the skin at the side of your mouth cause it is tough to chew.
It tasted like gummy bear to me.
However my bro said it tasted like wine.
duh ~ wine are made of grapes.

Anyway, I Google Hwaseong.
Hwaseong Fortress was the first result. I clicked on it.  Oh ~~~
It is on the UNESCO list.

Something caught my eyes when I Google Hwaseong.
Hwaseong serial murders !

~ Day 6 - 13 September 2012 ~

3rd day of Guilin tour !

No idea where is this place.

Enter a cave

My Granny

My Grandfather

Street food - savory bread I suspect this comes from western-northern China, or maybe influence from the Middle East.

Sesame seed flat bread

Green onion flat bread taste better.

Custard apple

Night flight back to Guangzhou.

7 days Guangzhou - Guilin trip ! | Go to post

7 Days in China !

~ Day 5 - 12 September 2012 ~

2nd day of Guilin tour !

Breakfast outside the hotel.
This was so much better.
Moreover, it cost RMB3.5 for regular bowl.
And that is only 0.7cents in SGD!

Thick beehoon
Pork and beef slices
Fried crunchy soya beans
A spoon of chopped spring onions
And lastly a hard boiled egg taken from the hotel.

Boat ride along the Li River - Yangshou. The RMB20 note scenery is is found here !
But it is a pity that I didn't get a shot of it.
Partly because I don't understand what the tour guide said.
And secondly, when I understood what she said, majority of the China people are already standing on the front deck ! No space for me =(

Water Buffaloes

Peek - a

Boo!

Dark clouds and white clouds.
Luckily it didn't rain.

I have no idea where is  this place.
But it was another boat ride.
Human-powered bamboo raft ride.

Ah-Jie

Ah-Ge
Tough job trying to earn our money.
Especially when his passengers do not engage in water fights.
He can't rent out his water "guns" (bottom left of the above picture)

Spot the difference :)

The big banyan tree at Yangshou Gaotian Village.

Bamboo
Always growing
Bend but do not break
We should learn from them !

桃花 = Peach Blossom

The Shangri-la

Impression of Lui San Jie Everyone in China would say that it is good. But to me, just so-so because it made me sleepy.

RMB220 / SGD44 for that show is quite expensive. Reasons being :
  • Performance was too far from the audience.
  • Characters were too small to see
  • No idea what the show is about = Boring !
  • Chinese songs used in the show aren't pleasant to my ears. Not that I don't listen to Chinese songs.
  • Although it was only an hour or an hour and half, I found the show too long.
But, the lighting, mountainous background (made use of the geographical landscape) and the effort of the villagers are impressive.

Just a short video. Resolution is not clear cause I took it with a camera and not with a video cam.

7 Days in China !

~ Day 4 - 11 September 2012 ~

Start of Guilin tour !

 Lousy breakfast from the hotel.

The local guide told us that the above picture is the Huang Fu Pu. But later I found out that it is actually Duxiu Feng or Solitary Beauty Peak in English.

Zhong Shan Bu Si The guy holding the yellow flag is the Duxiu Feng's guide. He is super passionate about telling us the Chinese history. Unfortunately, my Chinese is half-baked. Anyway, he is a great guy. The tourism industry needs people like him!

I did not climb up this ... piece of rock .

Chinese pavilion

Zhong Shan Chang Zai . Zhong Shan here and Zhong Shan there. Not sure if the Zhong Shan means SunZhongShan ?

Chinese characters on that piece of rock.

The guide told us that the sentence with the red mark describes Guilin specifically .

No idea what is this Chinese character but there is historical meaning behind it.

Guilin Yu Hill Park

Entering a cave.

Emperor Yu Temple

no olimbing

Its been said that once you walk across the bridge, do not walk back the same particular bridge.

Chinese fir trees in water

The twin pagodas - the sun tower & the moon tower.Visiting the river during the day time, you will see the original plain stuff.  At night, neon lights brightens the river in green, yellow, blue and red.
